Invisalign have today confirmed that following negotiations with HMRC, their aligners have been classified as a medical device and as such, are now exempt from VAT.

In his statement, Jamie Morley, General Manager for Invisalign UK and Ireland said ” I believe the removal of VAT represents a significant step forward for us, which adds even greater value to our commercial proposition to Invisalign Providers. The implication of this decision means that we are now in a position to help all the clinicians with whom we work to develop their financial, as well as practice, growth… We believe we are now further aligned with your business and thanks to the removal of VAT, Invisalign will be even more attractive for you and your patients“.

This is good news for orthodontic practices and I hope that these savings will soon be passed to patients.
